Al's fifth release is an ancient tale told through music, exploring themes as ancient as time. Al masterfully weaves music and narrative entrancing the listener and blending modern and ancient sensibilities. Beautifully crafted, peaceful, unpretentious yet powerful, Al has once again shown his versatility by creating a work of deep emotion that will be undoubtedly welcomed by his audience. This release, featuring the talents of award winning artist Ann Licater, is the next step in Al's cultural journey which has positioned him as one of the most innovative talents in New Age/World music today.
A princess, a rose, and a quest for the unattainable.
Faced with the prospect of an undesirable marriage, a princess devises a plan: the man she will agree to marry must profess his love by finding the impossible... a blue rose. Knowing such a rose does not exist in nature, the princess rests, confident that she has escaped marriage and is in control of her own destiny. But destiny has other plans and the unattainable rose - the impossible love - suddenly manifests and her heart is swept away
The myths of the Norse come to life in Northern Seas, Al Conti’s GRAMMY® Nominated fourth album. As with his previous award-winning album, Scheherazade, Conti has taken well-known tales, this time from the mystical lands of the north that originated during Scandinavia’s Viking Age, and woven music around themes and images. By combining ancient and exotic instruments with modern ones, Conti has created a mythical landscape carrying the listener to another time and place, one cloaked in veils of mist, when the gods ruled over harsh Nordic lands. Alongside the GRAMMY® Nomination, the album also ranked Top 10 Best New Age on Amazon.com in 2010.
One kingdom, one ruler,
the strength of one woman
to conquer them all!
Al Conti's third release is his most haunting and seductive yet. Alluring sounds of guitar, piano, dulcimer, exotic hurdy gurdy, sitar, tribal drums and other percussion fill this musical landscape to tell the triumphant story of Scheherazade like it has never been told before. This is Al's first album to bridge new age and world music and is a compelling retelling of the 1001 nights through the eyes of Scheherazade, the teller of these tales.
Travel through musical valleys and peaks to discover Orpheus and his unrelenting quest to retrieve his lost love in the haunting opening track ‘Quest for Orpheus.’ Dream along with the tales of Homer’s ‘Iliad.’ Find yourself wishing for ‘Evangeline,’ the young Victorian maiden, to find true love as she sits by the sea, day after day with her book of poems. And then find that true love in the movement of ‘Danzante’ and the power of ‘Abstract Desire.’ Feel the quill of the poet inspire the world through a tapestry of enchantment. And, as every book must end, feel yourself transported with the final rendering ‘Epilogos’ and its timeless prayer.
RELEASE DATE: 6/2006
