Hannah Beth Crary

(Fiddles - album: Northern Seas, The Blue Rose)

Traditional Fiddler Hannah Beth Crary has always kept one word in mind when she plays the music she loves: opportunity. If she had not been given the opportunity when she was seven to learn to play her instrument, Crary knows that she would not be able to give the opportunity to others. In each performance, or lesson she teaches, Crary realizes that the gift she shares with each person sparks inspiration to take the risk and try something new.

As a young musician, Hannah Beth Crary performed with a young musicians group, Fiddleheads, which performed around Vermont and New England. This group, founded by Mark Sustic, began as a summer camp to give children in Franklin County, Vermont the opportunity to try traditional music and learn with their peers. This camp turned into a group soon after with the premise of giving traditional musicians, from neighboring towns, the opportunity to play and learn together. Later Fiddleheads, and Hannah Beth Crary, became a part of the Young Tradition Vermont organization which encourages young people in the Vermont, and neighboring states, to play traditional music with experienced musicians in their area.

After leaving Fiddleheads, Crary found the word "opportunity" follow her to the next endeavor in which she began teaching private lessons. Ever since Crary was a child, she knew that education would be a part of her life and found this new opportunity, exploring music instruction, as a way to determine her goals. Hannah Beth Crary has taught many students, of all ages and levels, since 2005 and that experience played a pivotal role in her determination to pursue her degrees in Elementary Education and Music at Saint Michael's College.

Notably, Crary appeared on Grammy Nominated Album, Northern Seas, by Al Conti and has since performed at various venues in the Greater Burlington region. Prior to completing her degrees at Saint Michael’s College, Crary performed at her senior recital, which was themed to tell the story of her journey as a musician. Hannah Beth Crary often performs at Radio Bean in Burlington, Vermont with various artists accompanying her.  Prodigy Hannah Beth was barely 17 when she played on Al's album.

Hannah Beth Crary is a licensed Elementary Educator and has completed her M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Technology Integration. The lessons she learns from her classroom, and in her studies for her Masters, informs her teaching in private lessons. Hannah Beth Crary is not currently accepting new students as she embarks on the new journey of parenthood.
